We as Activity Directors/Event Planners celebrate who people are- we celebrate for them when they can’t. We are responsible for making their traditions and celebrations come to life. The best thing about our job is that we get to know who people are- where they come from, what they believe in, and how they lived their life. With that knowledge we are able to plan events for our residents that reflect who they are. One suggestion is to set aside part of your assessment to gather information such as their family traditions, favorite holidays, foods, etc. I encourage you to really get to know each senior that you encounter and plan events specifically to celebrate who they are.
